Sailfish are the most popular and abundant fish in these waters from January thru April. These huge Pacific sails migrate to the west coast of Costa Rica during these months by the thousands giving the angler the opportunity to hook up many sails per day. The most billfish caught in a single day, to our knowledge, was 43!

Blue Marlin inhabit these waters when the water temps are right and offer incredible reel screaming experiences along with arm testing strength. Blue’s range from 150-600 lbs. and are found during the same months as the sailfish as well as December and May.

Yellowfin Tuna travel in large schools giving multiple hookups a real probability and have been known to tip the scales over 200 lbs. in this area and are mostly found in December and late spring and summer. Wahoo are an exciting change!

Dorado help makes for fun challenges on the fly rod along with the sailfish and range in sizes up to 60 lbs. Bottom fish such as Grouper and Red Snapper are plentiful along the shallows offshore and among the rock structures in the deeper waters where we fish both conventional and fly fishing methods and will give any angler a fight, they won’t forget anytime soon!

Black Marlin the most prized fish in these waters with some fish weighing over 1000 lbs. in this area. It is quite possibly one of the best and most untapped areas in the world to fish for these magnificent creatures of the sea. May of 2007 one of our clients hook up and released on of these giants of the sea, this Black topped the 1000 lb. mark.
Roosterfish these exciting explosive fish are found in the surf off the beaches and around rock structures. Roosters top the 80 lbs. scale and are an absolute thrill on a fly rod. Special boats are available for these trips upon request.
